Freshdesk knowledge base apps compared (2026)
An honest comparison of tools for a Freshdesk knowledge base: native features, link checkers, translation apps, export apps and TidyKB, with prices and dates.
Updated
There is no single app that maintains a Freshdesk knowledge base end to end: Freshdesk covers writing and publishing, and separate tools cover link checking, translation, export and AI drafting. This page lists what each one does for a Freshdesk KB, what it costs and who it suits, as checked on 19 September 2026.
What Freshdesk does natively
Freshdesk's knowledge base handles categories, folders, articles, drafts and publishing on every plan. Pro and Enterprise add multilingual articles, article versions, templates, advanced bulk actions and KB analytics; Enterprise adds an approval workflow. Bulk actions cover moving, visibility, author and publishing, not article text.
Not in the feature list: a broken-link check, find and replace across articles, duplicate detection and automatic translation of articles. Translations are marked outdated by hand after each edit to the primary article. Freddy AI's Improve flags outdated or incomplete articles, but only for Chat AI agents, and it was free "through September 30, 2026".
Who it's for: everyone on Freshdesk. Start here and add a tool only for a job it doesn't do.

Link checking
Dr. Link Check crawls any website, including a public Freshdesk portal, and reports broken links. Lite is free for a one-time check of up to 1,500 links; Standard is $13/mo (monthly or biweekly checks), Professional $49/mo (weekly), Premium $159/mo (daily).
It sees only what a visitor sees. It doesn't know which articles are drafts, which link points to an article you archived last week, or which language version is which, and it can't fix a link inside Freshdesk.
Who it's for: teams that want a cheap, proven broken-link report for the whole website, help center included.

Bulk editing
Nothing in the Freshdesk marketplace edits article text in bulk, as far as we found, and the API has no bulk update: one article per call. The options are editing article by article, writing a script against the API (with your own backup, because the API has no versions endpoint), or a DIY AI route with an MCP server (below). There is more detail in how to replace text in multiple Freshdesk articles.
Translation
- Crowdin: a free Freshdesk marketplace app (version 1.0, last updated about four years ago) that syncs articles with Crowdin's translation management system. Crowdin has a free plan; paid plans are reported from about $50/mo billed annually, which we could not confirm on Crowdin's own page. For teams with a localization process.
- Lokalise: a Freshdesk integration marked beta. Updates can take up to 30 minutes because of Freshdesk's rate limits, and Freshdesk language codes (dashes) have to be adjusted by hand to Lokalise's (underscores). From $149/mo. For companies already using Lokalise for their product.
- Weglot (or ConveyThis): translates the help-center pages in front of Freshdesk. Free for 2,000 words and one language, paid from $17/mo. Translations never become Freshdesk articles, so Freshdesk search and Freddy don't see them. For "translate the portal today" with no review step.
The full comparison, with how each handles changed articles, is in how to translate a Freshdesk knowledge base.

Export and PDF
- Help Center PDF Export (by Freshworks): exports and prints solution articles as PDF. Paid, with a 21-day trial; version 2.0, last updated about three years ago.
- KnowledgeBase Exporter (Spritle Software): bulk-downloads help articles. Paid, with a 21-day trial; version 1.0.
- Freshdesk's own export gives article properties; the article content comes with a full account backup.
Who they're for: teams that need a PDF manual or an offline copy. For a spreadsheet of every public article with its content, see the Freshdesk knowledge base export tool.

Health monitoring and AI drafting
- Pageloop monitors product changes (tickets, Slack, release notes) and drafts updated articles and screenshots, with human approval, and lists Freshdesk among its integrations. No public price (demo only). How deep the Freshdesk support goes, we could not verify. It needs access to tickets, Slack or GitHub. It covers screenshots and AI rewrites, which TidyKB does not.
- eesel AI is an AI agent that also drafts knowledge base articles from gaps in your tickets. $0.40 per ticket or chat task. It reads tickets by design.
- DIY with an MCP server: free Freshdesk MCP servers (for example
freshdesk-mcpon npm) let Claude or ChatGPT read and edit articles. Free, flexible, and without a preview, snapshot, undo or schedule. Use a key limited to the knowledge base and back up first. - TidyKB (this site): a read-only health scan of every article and translation, bulk find and replace with a diff preview and one-click undo, translation sync as drafts, and a weekly report. It never reads tickets. It is pre-launch: the free public audit is open; the paid features are targeted for 7 December 2026. Priced from $29/mo by article count.

In TidyKB
What TidyKB will automate, once live: links to deleted or draft articles, stale and near-duplicate articles, outdated translations (flagged and re-drafted), and renames across titles, bodies and SEO fields, each change snapshotted and undoable. What it won't do: host your help center, read tickets, write new articles from tickets or update screenshots.

How we chose
We listed tools that do one of the maintenance jobs for a Freshdesk knowledge base (checking, bulk editing, translating, exporting, monitoring), found through the Freshworks marketplace, search results for Freshdesk knowledge base queries and the Freshworks community. We left out knowledge base platforms that replace Freshdesk's help center, and ticket-only translation apps. Each fact comes from the vendor's own page or documentation on the date shown; where a page didn't say, we wrote "not verified". We make TidyKB, so read its entry with that in mind. If something here is wrong or out of date, email support@tidykb.net and we'll fix it.

FAQ
Questions, answered
What are the best Freshdesk apps for the knowledge base?
It depends on the job. For translation with an existing localization team, Crowdin or Lokalise. For a PDF manual, Help Center PDF Export. For a website-wide link report, Dr. Link Check. For Freshdesk-aware checks and bulk fixes with undo, TidyKB (pre-launch; the free public audit is open now).
Does the Freshdesk marketplace have a knowledge base link checker?
We found none when we checked on 19 September 2026. Generic crawlers such as Dr. Link Check work on a public portal, but they can’t see drafts or tell a link to an archived article from a working one.
Can I edit many Freshdesk articles at once?
Freshdesk bulk actions cover moving, visibility, author and publishing, not article text, and the API updates one article per call. Text changes across many articles need editing by hand, a script with your own backup, or a tool built for it.
